Food allergies in the United States are prevalent. In fact, the CDC reports that 8% of school-aged children are affected by food allergies. Food allergies, although more common in babies and young children, can develop at any time, even to foods you have eaten before. Many different types of foods can cause allergic reactions, however, 90 percent of reactions are caused by the following foods: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, fish, wheat and soy.
